Competition: Win an exclusive artist's proof from Eric Carle's story book "Slowly, Slowly, Slowly," said the Sloth

I was approached by fellow blogger Natasha Worswick to help spread the word about a fantastic prize draw that Booktime are running this year.

Booktime is a programme run by the charity Booktrust in partnership with Pearson and the Department for Education, that gives free books to all children when they start reception class at school. Their aim is to promote reading for pleasure and encourage family engagement in shared reading at an important transition stage in children’s learning and development.

This autumn, 680,000 copies of Eric Carle’s wonderful story book “Slowly, Slowly, Slowly,” Said the Sloth will be given for free to all children starting reception class in England.

To celebrate, Booktime are offering primary schools and libraries in England the chance to enter a prize draw to receive an exclusive artist’s proof from the book. Each vibrant, colourful spread from the book is signed by Eric Carle.

Anyone can nominate a primary school and a public library in England (full terms and conditions can be found on the website).

Nominations open on the 6th September and close on the 31st October.

To nominate, all you have to do is visit the Booktime site and find their school or library.

Please do spread the word about the competition, Booktime want to reach as many parents, teachers, librarians and children's book enthusiasts as they can so that every local school and library stands a chance.

The Booktime website also has games and resources inspired by all the books they have given away in the past. From September the 6th they’ll have games and resources inspired by “Slowly, Slowly, Slowly,” Said the Sloth for families, librarians and teachers - so it’s worth a look just for that alone!
