The Wicked Young Writers' Award was launched by the long-running West End musical Wicked to recognise excellence in writing, encourage creativity and develop writing talent in young people across the country.
Any young person between the ages of 5 and 25 years old is eligible to enter, making the award the first of its kind to reward excellence to such a wide age-range of young people across the whole of the UK.
There are five different age categories:
5-7 years old
8-10 years old
11-14 years old
15-17 years old
18-25 years old
Judging will be overseen by former Children's Laureate and bestselling author Michael Morpurgo, as well as Michael McCabe, Executive Producer of Wicked in London, and William Fiennes, author and founder of First Story.
The Wicked Young Writers' Award is FREE to enter and entries can range from any genre including stories, poems, drama and can even include illustrations!
The Award is open to any young person from the UK and Northern Ireland aged between 5 and 25 years old on the closing date of 31 July 2012.
Entries must be no longer than 750 words!
