HOT KEY BOOKS LAUNCHES WRITING PRIZE
WITH THE GUARDIAN
The Guardian and Hot Key Books are launching a search for the next generation of writers of children’s fiction with the Guardian Hot Key Books Young Writers Prize.
Hot Key Books is looking for new young writers between the ages of 18 and 25,
Who write in either of two categories: for ages 9 ‐12 or 13 ‐19.
Entrants should be unpublished talents new to the literary world that are passionate about writing for children.
The winners, one for each age category, will be selected by a panel of judges who will consult with school children.
Each winner will be given editorial support and the chance to be published by Hot Key Books.
A judging panel comprising of representatives from the Guardian, Hot Key Books, booksellers, school children and authors representing both age groups will be announced at the end of April.
Submissions of partial manuscripts will open on 30 April 2012 and close on 31 May 2012, with a second stage of full manuscripts in October.
The winners will be announced at London Book Fair 2013.
Details of how to enter, along with full terms and conditions and the application form will be available from The Hot Key Books blog from midnight on 30th April. No submissions will be accepted prior to this, any sent in will be deemed void.

PRINT EXPRESS CHILDREN'S STORY COMPETITION
Announcing the Print Express Children's Story Competition: they've run a number of competitions for aspiring poets & short story authors in the past, but this is the first competition they've run exclusively for kids.
If you're aged 13 or under and are a keen short story writer, they want to hear from you - and you could win £150 in Amazon vouchers!
To enter, email them at firstname.lastname@example.org with your short story (maximum of 500 words) on any topic you'd like. The more creative, interesting, exciting & fun your story - the better!

- - Only one entry per person
- - When applying, include your age
- - They'd like to publish the winner's story on their blog, but you keep the rights to it.
